Each group plays its own round robin. Then the best from both groups meet in one playoff.

Turbo mode
Groups of four share a court. The groups mix every few rounds. You may play with the same partner more than once.
Then a playoff, set by the table
Pick a playoff. Seeds 1 and 2 team up and wait in the final. Seeds 3 and 6 play Seeds 4 and 5 for the other spot. Or play a top 4 final, pick your partner, or skip it. With 18 players you can also play two semis from the top 8. Compare formats
